Tencent and Krafton have
announced PUBG Mobile Light
, a reduced-footprint version of PUBG Mobile.
Pre-registration opens August 25, with a full launch targeted for later this year.
It appears to be designed to lower the barrier to entry on storage and device requirements – the initial download is around 1GB on Android and under 2GB on iOS, with additional content modules downloadable separately rather than bundled upfront.
The game’s producer says in the below video that the core map, supplies and combat are designed to match the main game, and existing PUBG Mobile accounts, owned items and friends lists carry across.
PUBG Mobile Light runs alongside the existing app rather than replacing it, and will receive updates in step with it.
The move follows a parallel announcement from Krafton India confirming BGMI Lite, a lighter version of Battlegrounds Mobile India, targeted for launch by the end of 2026.
Krafton’s mobile revenue
, covering PUBG Mobile, BGMI, and Peacekeeper Elite, rose 20.2% year on year to $810m (₩1,153.7bn) in H1 2026, part of a record-breaking half for the company overall.
Total revenue hit $1.87bn (₩2.7tn), up 73.3% year on year, driven by PUBG franchise growth and Subnautica 2’s Early Access launch on PC, which has sold over 5m units.
Operating profit rose 38.3% to $683m (₩972.5bn), reaching 92% of Krafton’s full-year 2025 operating profit in just six months.
