Now we’ve got six months of 2026 data, let’s have a little dig through
AppMagic
and see where we’re at.
Remember, these are estimates for the first six months of this year, from January to the end of June, and are unlikely to be exact figures – but this AppMagic data is still broadly indicative of the shape and size of things.
Garena seems to have put all of its might behind the higher-end version of
Free Fire
, subtitled
Max
, and it has had results: the mobile-first battle royale beat Block Blast to the top of the H1 2026 download chart, according to AppMagic.
The standard edition of Free Fire isn’t even in the top 100 downloads for the first six months of 2026, which suggests it is gently being deprioritised as devices get more powerful and the ‘Max’ edition becomes the default. 25% of Free Fire Max’s lifetime downloads are from India, with Indonesia (13%), Brazil (12%) Vietnam (8%) and Mexico (7%) completing the top five.
In second, monthly downloads for Hungry Studio’s
Block Blast
have been in decline ever since December 2025, though we have seen the same dip in the middle of 2025, too – so it might just be that Hungry Studio holds back on UA spend during the spring and summer months.
Roblox
is in third and is noticeably down compared to the same period in 2025, perhaps due to there not being a monster summer hit like Grow A Garden just yet. Something may well emerge this or next month while most of its player base is off school, though.
The big story for the first half of 2026 is the sudden rise of these
Arrows
games (which won’t be a surprise to anyone following our regular monthly updates).
Miniclip-owned Lessmore appears to have originated and popularised the category with
Arrows – Puzzle Escape
, and then Chinese outfit Learnings, under its label Oakever, followed up quickly with a version of its own, once called Arrows Go, now named
Amaze Go
. They occupy fourth and ninth spot respectively.
Sandwiched in between those two Arrows games are longtime top ten regulars
Subway Surfers, Ludo King, Vita Mahjong
and
Pizza Ready
, all of which are steady, consistent performers in our monthly charts.
And bravo to Voodoo, which seems to have rebooted its efforts with
Paper.io 2
. After several months of download decline in the summer of 2025, it has been on quite a run since, hitting around 12m installs in January and March and hovering around the 10m mark ever since.
