Now we’ve got six months of 2026 data, let’s have a little dig through
AppMagic
and see how the ten top grossing mobile games of the year are looking so far.
First, the usual caveats: AppMagic’s revenue estimates are based on publisher payout, and therefore do not include Apple or Google’s 30% cut, ad revenue or cash coming through webshops. IAPs from China’s fragmented Android ecosystem are not included either.
Still, these numbers are indicative of the broad shape and size of things for the first half of the year. Analysis below.
Honor of Kings
hit an all-time high in January with a record-breaking monthly IAP revenue total of around $194m – a remarkable feat. Since then Tencent’s monster MOBA has been pulling in
between $140-160m every month, besides a blip in June that saw Honor of Kings earn ‘only’ $110m (still enough to keep it number one in the top grossing charts).
So yes, while this game is an absolute monster, it is still mostly a phenomenon in China: AppMagic estimates that 98% of its lifetime revenue has been earned on home turf.
Chinese studios sweep the top three with regular top grossing contenders
Whiteout Survival
and
LastWar
in second and third respectively. But where Century Games’ frosty 4X strategy game has been a pretty steady earner, pulling in roughly $110m every month, FunFly’s take on the genre has been in rapid decline since February.
LastWar was consistently pulling in $120-135m every month for most of 2025, but pulled in ‘just’ $71m in June, its worst performance since shortly after launch, when it was still scaling up.
Please let us know
if you have any theories as to why this sudden drop-off is happening…
Dream Games’
Royal Match
is a model of consistency, meanwhile, having earned just over $100m practically every month of 2026 to date. And following a dramatic cratering in IAP revenue for
PUBG Mobile
at the end of 2025, it has continued to be a very spiky game by revenue.
The OG battle royale leapt up the top grossing charts again in January and February – earning a whopping $133m in the latter month – but has fallen away since, though this was still enough to keep it ahead of Microfun’s growing
Gossip Harbor
. The merge puzzler continues to establish itself in the top tier of earners by regularly pulling in about $100m every month, keeping it comfortably ahead of
Roblox
.
It’s been a pretty muted first half of 2026 for the UGC platform, which hasn’t had a new runaway hit like Grow A Garden or Steal A Brainrot to boost its numbers this year (yet…). It may well come this or next month as the school summer holidays roll on, but for now, it’s down for 2026 when you compare its IAP earnings in the first half of 2025.
Scopely’s IAP revenue from
Monopoly Go
suddenly dropped in February this year, presumably due to its continued efforts to move players away from native IAP and into webshops. Since then, it has pretty consistently earned around $85m per month in IAPs; only Scopely itself will know how much more cash there is coming in outside of Apple and Google’s purview.
Outside of a couple of blips in February and June, King currently earns $95m-ish per month from
Candy Crush Saga
IAPs, though of course there’s more cash coming in through ads aimed at non-payers.
Like fellow new(ish) contender Gossip Harbor,
Kingshot
is made in China and has been posting steady rises in IAP revenue since launch, peaking in May. Given the amount of UA ads for this title on TikTok currently, you can expect that growth to continue as Century Games establishes its second title in the top 10 grossing list.
