New label Mattel Game Studios’ first launch is Skeletor: Until Next Time, a tie-in with the Masters of the Universe film hitting cinemas on June 5.
It’s Subway Surfers-style lane runner that’s out now on iOS and Android. It was developed by Mattel Game Studios in partnership with outsourcing and codevelopment firm Amber.
Mattel has previously licensed out its many IPs to other game developers and publishers, but Skeletor: Until Next Time is the first-self published title from Mattel Game Studios. It is the first of two games Mattel Games Studios expects to release this year. The company has not announced the other title.
Earlier this year it partnered with Canadian studio Uken to launch 3D match puzzler

, featuring brands including Barbie, Hot Wheels, Uno and more.
The toy giant has been upping its presence in mobile games in the last few years, and most recently
bought NetEase’s 50% of joint venture Mattel163 for $159m
.
Alongside NetEase, Mattel163 had released four games based on Mattel IP: Uno!, Uno Wonder, Phase 10, and Skip Bo. Those games had 20m monthly active users and had racked up over 550m downloads worldwide as of February 2026, according to the company.
In February, chairman and CEO of Mattel Ynon Kreiz said at the time: “Our portfolio of iconic brands lends itself perfectly to the digital world and the acquisition will strengthen our position and accelerate our presence in a large, high-growth market.”
