Scopely has revealed an ambitious new takeover in its hit game Monopoly Go.
The Simpsons crossover takes place June 3-July 29, and features all of the familiar characters and locations you’d expect, plus lots of “hidden details, deep-cut references and Easter Eggs”, says Scopely.
New Simpsons-themed episodes will take place in the game every two weeks from June 3, featuring stories penned by the Simpsons team. There are also Spingfield-themed gameplay tweaks, ‘runs’, ‘heists’ and ‘shutdowns’ plus collectible stickers with each episode.
A new animated short made by The Simpsons creative team also pits Mr Burns, voiced by Harry Shearer, against Mr. Monopoly, played by Will Ferrell.
As we reported recently
, Scopely also spent big on a Monopoly Go campaign dubbed ‘Friendship pays’ back in 2025. Will Ferrell lent his voice only to ‘Mr Monopoly’, while Jason Momoa, Chris Pratt and Keke Palmer appeared in person for the special effects-laden ad.
Ferrell is still likely to have been paid up to $2m for the ‘Friendship pays’ spot, said one source, with Pratt, Momoa and Palmer likely to have received about the same or slightly less for their in-person appearances in the ad.
Monopoly Go also executed a similar
Star Wars crossover event
from May-July last year.
Scopely also says the crossover marks The Simpsons’ first return to a dedicated mobile game experience in 13 years, which we assume is a reference to the launch and recent closure of EA’s
The Simpsons Tapped Out
.
President of games at Scopely Victor Diaz-Roig said of the collab: “Working closely with The Simpsons
creative team, our talented gamemakers at Scopely set out to do much more than simply place Springfield inside the game; we wanted to build an entirely new shared universe where these iconic characters, stories and gameplay experiences could cross over.”
“Every part of the season was designed with our Tycoons in mind, introducing fresh ways to play the game they love, while opening the doors for
Simpsons
fans to step into Monopoly go! for the very first time.”
As reported last week
, licensor Hasbro is earning over $40m per quarter from the game. Scopely said in January that Monopoly Go generates roughly $200m per month, and prior to that coCEO Javier Ferreira said in March 2025 that
Scopely had spent over $1bn on marketing the title
